Big Zoom Camera! Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ40 14.1 MP Digital Camera Brand new, this 14 MP Panasonic camera has more zoom than it should be allowed to have! Starting with a super-wide 25mm focal length, it zooms to an incredible 24X- all optical. In 35mm terms, it’s like having a 25-600mm lens! The perfect safari or sports camera, this weighs far less than half of what a digital SLR camera would with equivalent lenses. If you have a large screen TV you have to check out the High-Def video too! Two well known facts: Panasonic is one of the world’s finest manufacturers of electronics. Leica designs the finest optics on the planet. Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 10.1 MP Digital Camera Many Lumix cameras have Leica lenses! Put them both together and you get incredibly versatile cameras with razor sharp optics and intuitive, user friendly controls. Here’s a couple of our favorites… Lumix LX5Super bright Leica f.2.o Summicron lens. If you want to shoot low-available-light photos this 10MP camera is the one for you. It also has a super-wide zoom lens equivalent to a 24mm (to 90mm). Aspect ratios can be switched quickly due to a external switch on the lens barrel; I’m particularly impressed that you can choose a square format. I suspect that many pro shooters will be carrying one of these in their briefcase or glovebox as a backup camera! Even more compact- the Lumix GF1! Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 12.1MP Micro Four-Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera This camera has the same pro-level picture quality as the G2 yet is small enough to fit in a jacket pocket. It has basically the same specs but does not have a built-in eye level finder (though they do offer an accessory finder that slides into the hot shoe of the camera that gives you through the lens viewing). Super cool all around carry-camera!
The coolest thing we’ve seen in a long time!
Having been in the photo industry for what seems like forever it’s really rare that something new comes along that makes us excited enough to sell our Hasselblad or incur the wrath of our significant others by purchasing yet another camera… Enter the Panasonic Lumix G2!
 Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 12.1 MP Digital Camera In a nutshell, this is a 12.1 megapixel digital Single Lens Reflex camera with interchangeable lenses (though not really an SLR, as the term “reflex” refers to a mirror in the viewing system; as there is no mirror box in this camera they are able to make the camera considerably smaller and lighter than comparable Nikon or Canon SLR’s). Smaller camera, high performance and High Definition video capability. But the thing that really has us excited (as we love old cameras and optics) if that with inexpensive mount adapters you can use almost ANY lens with this camera! This means that if you have any great optics laying around you can still use them- or buy awesome used lenses at a fraction of the cost on new lenses. Focal lengths are effectively doubled; a 50mm lens becomes a 100mm with this system. Leica M and R mount, C-mount, Contax, Pentax, Nikon F, Canon EF and even FD mount lenses can be used. Adapters are even available for medium format lenses. LensBaby just announced an adapter that allows lens tilt with Nikon mount lenses that have more tilt capability than Nikon Perspective Control lenses! It has a 3″ LCD screen that you can flip out to use as a waist-level finder or face it down so you can hold the camera over you head to get shots you would usually need a ladder to get! It’s also got awesome touch screen capabilities. Touch the subject on your screen and the camera’s focus will lock on it and continue to track it as it moves. It also has a eye level finder with approximately 100% field of view. On top of that it has high definition video capability with stereo sound ! This is a reasonably priced compact camera with a remarkable zoom range – 26x! Nikon Coolpix P100 Super wide to super telephoto- this is the equivalent of a 26-678mm lens! Good for sports and action photos as well as it shoots up to 10 frames per second.
 Nikon Coolpix P7000 10.1 MP Digital Camera with 7.1x Zoom This is a high quality pocketable camera that will let you take seriously good photos! The 10.1mp sensor is much larger than the ones inside most compact cameras (1/1.7″ CCD), meaning less noise in the shadow areas making this quite good for low-light photos. The lens is an impressive 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6, and has the latest optical VR image stabilization that you need with such a long telephoto lens. You can also shoot RAW files with this guy, or 720p video. It even has an external microphone jack! The camera is fast, shooting up to 45 frames at 1.3 frames per second at full resolution. Though it has a built-in flash, it has a hot shoe allowing you to use external Nikon Speedlights.
 Nikon D3100 14.2MP Digital SLR Finally, a small, reasonably priced and lighweight Nikon DSLR that shoots 1080p Video! It boasts a 14.2mp CMOS sensor- More pixels than you should be allowed to have. This is a very user friendly camera with intuitive controls, and a built-in Guide Mode that walks you through the process. The large, 3″ monitor offers touch-screen Live View shooting and movie capture. The perfect camera for someone who wants the camera to be completely automatic- or have complete manual control. Comes with an image-stabilized VR Nikkor 18-55mm lens.
 Nikon D7000 Nikon’s newest addition, the D7000 has a 16.2mp DX-Format CMOS sensor for insures incredible detail and sharpness, and greatly reduced noise in low light situations. It’s also an extremely fast camera, shooting up to 6 frames per second for up to 100 frames before it slows down, and a blisteringly fast startup time of just 0.13/second! On top of all this, it shoots High Def video at 1080p. Dust and weather resistant seals and a tough magnesium-alloy covers mean your camera will going when the going get tough.
 Canon EOS 60D With the new EOS 60D DSLR, Canon gives the photo enthusiast a powerful tool fostering creativity, with better image quality, more advanced features and automatic and in-camera technologies for ease-of-use. It features an improved APS-C sized 18.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor for tremendous images, a new DIGIC 4 Image Processor for finer detail and excellent color reproduction, and improved ISO capabilities from 100 – 6400 (expandable to 12800) for uncompromised shooting even in the dimmest situations.
